Day 3 |Lord of Sipán -Route A|
Depature : 09:00 am/5: 00 pm
Huaca Rajada complex
When we talk about the Lord of Sipán, we’re talking about one of the most emblematic figures of the Mochica culture. The Lord of Sipán was an ancient Mochica ruler from the 3rd century, whose discovery proved far-reaching for world archeology as his tomb was the first royal burial site found intact in South America, and belonging to a Peruvian civilization prior to the Inca Empire.
The royal tomb of the Lord of Sipán was discovered by Dr. Walter Alva and his team of researchers in 1987, in Huaca Rajada, an archeological complex southeast of the city of Chiclayo. According to studies, the Mochica ruler was 1.65 meters tall, approximately 30 years old and probably died between 240 and 310 AD. He was found in a wooden coffin, the first of its kind found in America. Next to his head and feet were two skeletons of young women and the skeletons of a dog and two llamas on either side. Covered from head to toe in gold, silver, copper and precious stones, his skull was on a gold plate, showing how important this ancient leader was to the Mochica culture.
witches market or Bruning Museum
A market where you can buy everything, although the most striking is usually related to witchcraft. Here we will find the necessary ingredients to make any magic potion, dried snakes, preparations for spells, all kinds of herbal and leaf-based remedies and ceremonial objects such as masks, drums, whistles, etc… A very curious place full of color and exoticism. Especially in the morning, the market is full of people, because as we tell you here, not only products for witchcraft are purchased, but also daily food. However, for the tourist what is interesting lies in the products of magic and sorcery.
Royal Tombs of Sipán Museum
Given the cultural significance of the findings and under the impetus of their discoverer, Walter Alva, the Royal Tombs of Sipán Museum was constructed in the city of Lambayeque, in the department of Lambayeque, itself considered to be one of the most important tourist attractions in the northern part of the country. Opened in 2002 and with an architectural design inspired by the ancient truncated pyramids of the Mochica culture, its main attraction is the tomb of the Lord of Sipán, its jewels, pottery and funerary offerings.

Day 5|Cumbemayo Rocky Forest +Otuco Ventanillas|
Depature : 09:30 am/1: 30 pm
On this tour you will visit the ancient aqueducts and archaeological wonders ofCumbemayo. This excursion gives travelers a good glimpse into the Peruvian past.
The water channels carved at Cumbemayo are incredible and continue to baffle archaeologists, one look at these smooth and straight structures will surprise you too.
The channels are believed to have been carved with obsidian hammers. They are approximately 3,000 years old and provide evidence of the hydraulic engineering works that the inhabitants of this region were capable of doing. The canals divert water from the Pacific side of Peru to the Atlantic side. There are several enigmatic petroglyphs here as well.
Some archaeologists believe that Cumbemayo was once used for religious purposes. Without a doubt, this is a place of spectacular beauty, especially with its ichú grass and strange volcanic formations. Make sure you have your camera handy when you visit.
The ancient aqueducts of Cumbe Mayo continue to baffle archaeologists. Located on the outskirts of the town of Cajamarca in the Highlands of northern Peru, Cumbe Mayo is an absolutely fascinating place to visit.
for Lunch on the countrysite with a local guinea pig with red sause patatoes (optional -free lunch )
The Ventanillas de Otuzco
It is an archaeological site located in the district of Baños del Inca, 8 km northwest of the city of Cajamarca. The area with rare formations from volcanic rock served as a funerary site for pre-Inca civilizations.
Otuzco is the necropolis of a pre-Inca civilization, older than the Caxamarca culture, most probably with Wari culture influences. Hundreds of galleries and individual niches, which resemble windows (“ventanillas” in Spanish), were carved into the rock.
