Expedition Overview :
1. HISTORIC CENTER OF LIMA:
First, we will head to the historic center of Lima, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where we’ll explore the iconic San Martin Square, a beautiful and bustling area surrounded by impressive colonial architecture. Then, we will visit the Main Square (Plaza Mayor), the heart of the city, where you can admire the grandeur of the Presidential Palace, the Cathedral of Lima, and the Archbishop’s Palace. Following that, we will make our way to the fascinating underground catacombs at the San Francisco Monastery, a place rich in history and mystery. These catacombs were once used for burial purposes during the Spanish colonial period and now serve as an eerie but fascinating glimpse into Lima’s past, providing an opportunity to learn more about Peru’s colonial history, its cultural influences, and the lives of its early inhabitants.
After our Lima City tour we will have lunch in a local restaurant.
2. MIRAFLORES
We will then continue our journey to explore the famous district of Miraflores, known for its vibrant atmosphere and stunning coastal views. Our first stop will be the romantic ‘Parque del Amor’ (Park of Love), a beautiful, open-air park overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The park is renowned for its striking, modern sculpture ‘El Beso’ (The Kiss), created by the talented local artist Víctor Delfín, which depicts a passionate embrace between two lovers. This iconic piece of art is a symbol of love and is complemented by vibrant mosaics and lush gardens, making it the perfect spot to take in the panoramic views of the Peruvian coastline.
Next, we will make our way to ‘Parque Kennedy,’ a lively and bustling park located in the heart of Miraflores. This park is not only a popular gathering spot for locals and tourists, but it’s also well-known for its large population of friendly, stray cats that roam freely throughout the area. As we take a leisurely walk through the park, we will discuss the fascinating history of the place, which has evolved from a traditional square to one of the most visited parks in Lima. Its central location, surrounded by shops, restaurants, and vibrant street life, gives us a unique glimpse into the local culture and urban life of the district.
3. CHORRILLOS
We will then head towards one of the highest points in the city, located in the picturesque district of Chorrillos. Our destination will be the historic ‘Morro Solar,’ a prominent hill that offers an outstanding panoramic view of Lima and the vast Pacific Ocean. As we ascend to the top, we will be able to take in the breathtaking scenery, with the city sprawling below us and the coastline stretching to the horizon. The Morro Solar is not only a natural viewpoint but also a site of significant historical importance. It was the location of key events during Peru’s war for independence, serving as a strategic military stronghold. At the summit, we’ll delve into the fascinating history of this site and its role in shaping Lima’s development, as well as its cultural significance. We’ll learn about the events that took place here, including the battles fought for freedom, and explore the monuments that commemorate this rich history. This visit will give us a deeper understanding of Lima’s past, the ongoing cultural evolution, and its pivotal moments in the broader context of Peru’s history, leaving us with a profound appreciation for the nation’s incredible heritage, resilience, and its important role in shaping Latin American history.

Known for its laid-back atmosphere and colorful streets, Barranco is a haven for artists, musicians, and creative souls. Our visit will begin at the charming ‘Plaza de Barranco,’ a picturesque square surrounded by colonial-era buildings and lively cafés. Here, we’ll take a moment to enjoy the historic architecture and the vibrant energy of the area. From the plaza, we will head to one of the most iconic spots in Barranco—the ‘Puente de los Suspiros’ (Bridge of Sighs). Each mural tells its own unique story, offering a glimpse into the creativity and cultural expression that thrives in this charming neighborhood.

# 1 Tours operator and in private experiences in Trujillo Northern Peru»
Dilser has excellent English skills and completely helped us understand everything that we had questions about.
Visited Temple of the Moon, lunch in Trujillo, followed by Chan Chan. Not once during the day did we feel rushed or like we were asking too many questions.
I can’t emphasize the quality of this tour - his patience with our questions, knowledge of the historical and archeological processes involved, as well as his local expertise far surpass many other tours we have been on. At times, we felt like we were with a celebrity - he is well known and locals always smile when he comes around.
Highly recommend Dilser and Norte Expedition Tours if you are in the Trujillo and Huanchaco region.
