Day 1 City Tours :

Pick-up from your hotel in Trujillo’s historic center. We’ll head to the Plaza Mayor of Trujillo for an explanation of its founding, its first inhabitants, and the reasons behind the city’s establishment, as well as a general overview of its architectural history.

Our tour continues towards the Calonge Urquiaga House, an example of the economic prosperity enjoyed by families during the colonial period. This house museum is where the famous Liberator Simón Bolívar stayed and organized the Peruvian War of Independence. It preserves some of Bolívar’s personal belongings and objects of great historical value.

We will walk along Pizarro Street, named after the city’s historical founder, until we reach the House of Emancipation, which was the site of secret meetings for our independence from the Spanish colony in 1820.

Continuing along the same street, we will stop at the Iturregui Palace, belonging to one of the families who contributed to Trujillo’s independence and which now houses the Central Club.

Finally, we will arrive at El Recreo Plaza, where remnants of the old colonial-era water reservoir can still be seen.
