EXPEDITION OVERVIEW
We begin the excursion of 9 days , visiting one of the most recently descoveries in the last century well know as Machu Pichu from the northern peru.
Welcome to Peru. Our staff will pick you up in a private SUV from the apt to the chosen htl.
Day 1:|Lima City Tours |
- We will pick you up directly from your accommodation and, together with our expert local guide, we will take you on a fascinating walking tour of the historic center of Lima, the vibrant capital of Peru.
- During this tour, discover Lima’s fascinating story—from its founding in 1535 to its rise as the “City of Kings”, once the political and cultural heart of the Spanish viceroyalty in South America. As you explore the city, you’ll see some of Lima’s most iconic landmarks, including the majestic Gran Hotel Bolívar and its story-filled surroundings, as well as Plaza San Martín, one of the capital’s most emblematic and lively squares.
- We will continue our walk along Jirón de la Unión, one of the main streets of the historic center, where each building has its own story to tell. We will walk to the Plaza Mayor, the heart of Lima, where you will be able to observe the imposing Government Palace, the Archbishop’s Palace, the majestic Lima Cathedral, and other buildings that have played a crucial role in Peru’s politics and history.
- The historic center of Lima has been considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991, thanks to its impressive colonial buildings, which allow visitors to relive the city’s colonial era.

- Lima also stands out for being one of the oldest capitals in South America, and as such, it was the most important center for the Spanish Viceroyalty in the entire continent. Throughout this tour, we will explore some palaces that still hold secrets from that time.
- One of the most fascinating points of the visit will be the Monastery of San Francisco, where you can admire its impressive baroque architecture and the mysterious underground catacombs, one of the most intriguing attractions in Lima, offering a unique insight into the colonial history of the city.
- In addition, we cannot fail to include in the tour the House of Peruvian Literature, a historic building that was once a train station and now houses a space dedicated to Peruvian literary culture. From the outside, you can appreciate its elegant architecture and learn a little more about the writers and poets who have left their mark on Peruvian literature.
- Before ending the tour, we will make a final stop at the Church of Santo Domingo, one of the most important temples in Lima, known for its colonial architecture and religious history. Inside, you can admire its impressive artistic details and learn about the influence of the Dominican Order on the religious and cultural life of the city
- At the end of this enriching tour, we will take you back to your hotel so you can rest and reflect on this unforgettable experience that will allow you to learn about the history and culture of Lima at its best!
Day 2| Flight to Chachapoyas |
Chachapoyas, in the city known for its mountains and foggy areas
Free afternoon to explore the center town
Day 3| Kuelap & Cable Car |
We will begin our tour to the impressive pre-Inca citadel of Kuelap at 9:00 am. We will leave from the main square of Chachapoyas and drive along the breathtaking Uctubamba valley for approximately one hour until we reach the center of Nuevo Tingo.
When we arrive, we will purchase our tickets and take a shuttle to the cable cars. The cable car journey takes approximately 20 minutes and provides stunning views of the gorgeous Andean landscape. When the cable car drops us off in La Malca, we will go on a 25-minute walk to the citadel of Kuelap.
Our professional tour guide will show us around the archaeological site for 3 hours and tell us all about the Chachapoyas people, the Kuelap fortress, and other known facts about the area. This is a perfect opportunity to appreciate the largest pre-Inca archeological site in South America!
When we finish our tour, we will board the cable cars again and return to the village of Tingo.
traveling to Kuelap on a Monday, additional driving time should be considered.
Day 4| Gocta Fall |
We will leave from the office in the center of Chachapoyas at 9:00 AM and drive one hour to the small town of Cocachimba. When we arrive in Cocachimba, we will make a quick stop in a local restaurant to review the menu and place an order for your lunch later in the day. After everyone has placed their order, we will begin our hike to Gocta.
As we hike to Gocta, we will journey through heavily forested areas with unique vegetation and stop periodically to rest in clear areas with sweeping views of the surrounding valley. It’s a beautiful hike from start to finish! When we arrive at the base of one of the falls, you will have time to take pictures and enjoy the pure beauty of Gocta face-to-face. It is truly an Expedition that you will never forget!
After we visit the falls and Expedition them up close, we will hike down the mountain and return to the local restaurant in Cocachimba where we will relax, enjoy our traditional meals, and talk about the day. When everyone is done eating, we will drive back to Chachapoyas and arrive between 5:00 and 5:30 PM.
Day 5 |Karajia & Quiocta Cavern |
Our day begins at 8:00 AM. We leave the city of Chachapoyas en route to the province of Luya, first going down into the Utcubamba valley, the most emblematic area of this pre-Columbian civilization. After passing the left side of the Utcubamba, high up on the mountains adjacent to it, is the village of Lamud.
In Lamud we will make a stop where we will reserve our lunches in advance before driving 30 more minutes to the cave. Lunches will be eaten on the way back when returning from the cave. The cave is located 2700 meters above sea level and has a horizontal depth of 550 meters. Inside we will have time to appreciate the rock formations formed by millions of years of speleogenesis as well as archaeological remains left by the Chachapoyas in their funerary and sacred rituals.
Afterwards we return to Lamud for our lunches. From Lamud we will drive for an hour to the village of Cruzpata and from there we will hike 2 kilometers to the sarcophagi of Karajia. (Horses and mules are also available if desired.) Once we reach Karajia our professional guide will show us around the site. We will learn about the religious beliefs of the Chachapoyas and other cultural factors which archaeologists have discovered in recent years.
We will conclude the visit by pointing out all of the different sarcophagi in the area and examining them from all possible angles. Afterwards we will drive back to Chachapoyas arriving in the city around 6:00 to 6:30 PM.
Day 6| Revash Mausoleums +Leymebamba|
Departure 8:00 am, From Chachapoyas you travel in about 2h15 min. along a scenic road to San Bartolo.
From the village of San Bartolo you walk more or less horizontal in in half an hour towards the viewpoint over the Mausoleums of Revash. These mausoleums are located in a huge rocky mountain wall and consist of several small houses with pitched roof tops. Its polychrome walls are protecting figures of important and powerful persons from the Chachapoyas culture.
After Revash you wil vistit the interesting Museum of Leymebamba with lots of information about the several cultures that have lived in the Chachapoyas area.
The museum shows a great collection with more than 1000 objects, including 219 mummies which were partly found in Laguna de los Condors. The collection also includes old, ceramics, carvings and weapons.
After your visit to the museum we return to Chachapoyas around 6 pm.
Day 7|Transfer to Trujillo in SUV |

Day 8|Full Day Trujillo|
We pick you up from apt- Htl in Trujillo
* The temples of the Sun and the Moon, a religious center for the Moche culture, which developed between 100 and 900 AD. The archaeological complex shows two large pyramids with flat tops, known as huacas.
* Then we drive north of Trujillo to visit the Huaca Dragon, also known as Huaca Arco Iris (Rainbow Pyramid), which belonged to the Chimu culture.
* We continue up, to the ancient fishing Huanchaco village for a good lunch based in see food. Huanchaco is of the most famous beaches of Peru, where you can see the traditional fishing boats (caballitos de totora) which are still in use Today.
* After lunch we continue to Chan Chan, the largest adobe city in America, built by the Chimu and covering an area of about 20 square kilometres.
Day 9 |El Brujo Complex & Lady of Cao +transfer to Airport|
We drive to Chicama Valley, about 60 km north of Trujillo, to visit El Brujo, another complex of the Moche civilization. Archaeological excavations started here in 1990, where they found the Woman of Cao, a 1,500 year old, tattooed female mummy.
