  • Now open to the public, the site has garnered acclaim for its beautifully preserved ruins and intriguing collection of artefacts, which include a quipu (a unique knot system used by ancient Andean civilizations) and a number of musical instruments fashioned from animal bones, but definitely, no trace of warfare or weaponry.

Like two mirrors of the sky, the Chinancocha and Orconcocha Lagoons have created a new color in nature: neither green nor blue, perhaps turquoise, the truth is that their beauty leaves visitors fallen in love of nature..

 Day 5 : 69 Lagoon

Following the route to the Llanganuco Lagoons, we will ascend towards “portachuelo”, enjoying an impressive 360º panorama and observing the snow-capped peaks of the Cordillera Blanca: Huascarán (6,768 meters), Huandoy (6,395 meters), Chacraraju (6,112 meters), Chopicalqui (6,354 meters), Pisco (5,752 meters), etc. After two hours by bus you reach Cebollapampa at 3900 meters above sea level, here the walk begins, after approximately 8 km and three hours of walking you will reach the 69 lagoon at 4620 meters above sea level, under the gaze of the impressive Chacraraju, the Pisco, Huascarán, Chopicalqui, Huandoy and Yanapaccha Snow Mountains. After staying 40 minutes in the lagoon, we return back to Huaraz City.

Day 6:Transfer to Trujillo & Sechin on the way

The characters represented in the monoliths on the facades are of two kinds. The warrior-priests (dressed with a weapon or scepter) and the dismembered victims or their remains (mainly heads, limbs, skewered eyes, intestines, vertebrae and viscera), creating a macabre scene. All these figures represent humans, without the presence of demigods or animals

Another theory is that the site was a laboratory for high anatomical studies, which would explain the explicit exposure of various parts of the human body, such as viscera and bones. Another position holds that it is the representation of a popular rebellion bloodily crushed by the ruling elite.

For Federico Kauffman Doig it would be a staging of human sacrifices, within the framework of a cult that sought to ensure the livelihood of the population and counteract famines caused by droughts or other onslaught of nature
